Arts + Literature Laboratory is a community-driven contemporary arts center in Madison, Wisconsin, with a thriving literary arts program that democratizes access to the literary arts as both process and product by connecting writers to resources and audiences. Our programs feature a curated monthly reading series, the Midwest Video Poetry Fest, a writing center, a small press library, the ALL Review, write-ins, and workshops, along with exhibitions, concerts and more. ALL is home to the Wisconsin Writers Awards. Originally founded in 1964, these seven annual awards are given to writers living in Wisconsin (or those who have spent more than five years in Wisconsin). Included are the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award, the Norbert Blei/August Derleth Nonfiction Book Award, and the Edna Meudt Poetry Book Award, and a prize for the best poem by a high school student.
